Downtown

I love downtown Sacramento, I think its absolutely gorgeous. Sacramento California is one of those cities that don't feel exactly like a city its not all fast paced like San Francisco and Los Angeles. Sacramento isn't sophisticated like those cities are. Its actually pretty slow although its growing by leaps and bounds.  The outskirts of the city is filled with mostly suburbs of various economic demographics. The thing that I love about downtown  is the mixture of the old with the new. most of the houses are just lovely in  that area ,most are from the 1800's through about the 1940's those old quaint houses that seem to last forever and looks so beautiful. A lot of the new houses that are springing up in the downtown area are green and energy efficient  since Sactown is the state capitol of Cali downtown is a bustling center and its so vintagey, you don't need a car and alot of people just use their bikes, ride the bus or bike, there are lots of great restaurants and bars and clubs and there are the river its just a really great scene.  I took these pictures of some of the buildings I find interesting , some are of the new brownstone like houses they are building in midtown, these beauties are going for about $300,000 and some of the pictures are of  this old Masonic building, for the life of me I'm so curious about this building because its huge and its a masonic temple and it has all that masonic writing and emblems and symbols on it. The thing I find most odd about this building is that I never see anyone going in or out of it even though its huge and obviously its kept up, but I just never see anything happening there , granted I don't stand out in front of it 24/7 but I happen by there often enough where it seems I should see at least something happening over there every once in a great while.  I have to admit my imagination works overtime everytime I'm near this building thinking about all the strange rituals that secretly go on in there.  The building makes me think of that movie, Eyes Wide Shut. Anyway oneday maybe soon since I'm currently unemployed I might just spend a day walking around all downtown taking pictures and finding out new spots.

urban Brownstones I just had to get a picture of that vintage  VW Van in there love it, they are sort of my new obession.

I wouldn't mind living in one of these beauties althought they are 3 stories and pretty huge I don't think I need that much room!

I love it that whoever designed these said all shucks lets just paint them all brick red!

The Masonic building

notice the symbols, like the lyons head!

me trying to get a picture of the inside of the building and my hands reflecting in the glass.

I've never seen anything happening, or anyone coming in or going out! I think thats odd

This pictures is on the side of ther building, I wasn't wearing my glasses at the time so I didn't get to really study the picture but the ladder is defintely a masonic symbol, also I wanted to know what the people in the picture were doing because I know this picture is full of masonic images and symbols to the casual observer they would just see an odd picture but anyone whoes studied up on freemasons would recognize many of the symbols and there meanings imediately.

This is the side of the building and its huge, but like I said I never see anything, or anyone!

The back of the building

This is the bless sacrament Catholic church its the next block over and the masonic temple looks on directly across from it I think thats odd.

I never really noticed before but I took this picture two blocks away from the masonic temple, the stop that I'm at practically everday you can see the top of the temple from there!

Omg it actually rained today finally some cool fall weather, we went from it being in the 90's to cloudy rain, lets hope this weather continues.

Vintage Bike show

I have a ton of pictures that I've taken for the blog but haven't gotten around to putting them up becaus I've been super tired, more tired then busy or it could be that I've been so busy I'm just super tired. Alot has been going on in my life, we are looking for a new property to buy and that takes up lots of time and I've also started a new job and I'm still working my old job and school is starting back in a few weeks and really I get tired just thinking about it. I went to a vintage bike show a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to share these pictures.

to cute I'm not a pink person but I love this bike

this guy was only to happy to take a pic and show off his bike as you can see , I love guys who love vintage don't you?

when the show was over I actually shaw this couple take off in this how cool is that!

it was really hot my friend Nancy was taking her sweet time getting the picture and all I wanted to do was get out the heat! I know I'm wearing overall, lol but honestly my fashion sense lately has been lacking, I really haven't cared how I look and anything thats simple and easy works for me right now, actually I'm rethinking my wordrobe chioces but I'll post about that another time I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible. very hard but I'm trying!

I thought this bike so adorable with the sunflowers

I've always wanted an old vintage V W Van, I've always imagined myself traveling around in one. maybe it stems from watching to much scooby Doo as a child, but whenever I see one of these I can't help but feel a little wistful so when I saw this lovely of lovely Vintage V.W Vans did up in pastel cupcake pink my imagination ran wild. I pictured myself wearing a dark pink polka dot dress, or cut off jeans and a white T shirt, listening to 50's music and serving up lemonade, I don't even particularly like pink, but I could see myself hitting the road in this Van and setting up camp in various towns, cities and parks and selling my wears out of them like some traveling gypsy. I got  this picture courtesy of  http://dujourmag.com/

Images like this make me think of stuff like this, I think its the pastel colors, yummy

These dreamy summer images like girls in white dresses, it brings to mind being in the country at least in my imgination, somewhere like the missisippi bayou in an old house deep in the swamps, where I would wake up every moring lazy from the heatt and just throw on a thin white cotton dress or some simple floral print, and go pick berries and dig for crawdads that what I would imagine anyway! These pictures are from the Kling 2010 summer collection I know have been hitting the blog scene, not only are these images dreamy but the clothes are so simple they are just lovely.

I Dream Of Biba

I can actually thank( you'll notice I like to use the word actually alot) my obession with everything Biba for getting me interested in blogging. I've always loved fashion, espeacially styles that came out of the 1970's. For me it's just something about 70's styles that I can't get over no matter what new trends come out the 70's will live forever with me. There is just a mix of sophistication and casualness about 70's style that I adore. I really think women knew how to dress and you also had such iconic designers like Halston, Bob Mackie, just to name a few, it was in essence accessible glamour. I actually found out about Biba about five or six years ago. I was going through a Kevin Aucoin book, and one of his make up looks was Kate Moss done up in the style of a Biba girl. I couldn't take my eyes off the photo and I just had to find out what the Biba girl look was all about. Barbara Hulanicki who created Biba incorporated 1920's glamour with the rock'n roll vibe and pyschadelic styles of the 60's and 70's. All I can say about Biba is that it was very new, very hip and very art deco. If I could time travel I would go to Swinging London ,go to Biba and make Barbara Hulanicki give me a job and become a Biba girl.

The Biba Logo

Kate Moss as a Biba girl, I wish you could see the whole picture.

The Biba look consisted of big eyes , red lips and curly hair very soft very feminine.

cute drawings about Biba, The Biba bedroom, and Biba Lounge(shiny)

Barbara Hulanicki
I have no idea when this photo was taken, but she's in her 70's and looks awsome, and although Biba no longer exist, she is still designing, she's done some things for Top Shop and she also does interior decorating.  Barbara was also one of the very first to create makeup for women of color. (she tried, yall got to give her some credit)There is a movie out called Beyond Biba which I'm dying to see, and there are a couple of Coffee table books one Called the Biba Experience and the other I think is called Big Biba, try amazon if you're interested.

Here is a video from youtube by Cosmocorps2000, he has the most interesting fashion videos from the 60's and 70's some pretty awsome stuff here is the one and only he has of Biba.
